Energy Minister visited Zhodino CHPP
The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich met with the staff of Zhodino CHPP last week. Together with him, the branch was visited by the general director of RUE "Minskenergo" Oleg Schemel and the chairman of Zhodino city executive committee Dmitry Zablotsky.
During his working visit, Viktor Karankevich got acquainted with the main generating facilities of the CHPP, the state of power equipment.
Then there was a meeting with the staff of the station. Speaking to the workers of the CHP, the head of the ministry informed about the main decisions taken at the VI All-Belarusian People's Assembly. He recalled that the head of state outlined the key tasks and main directions of the country's socio-economic development program for 2021-2025. At the forefront of social and economic policy will remain the pressing issues of people's lives - fair pricing, reasonable tariffs for basic services, efficient employment and decent wages.
It also identified the priorities for its achievement, including for the main sectors of the economy. “In the energy sector, it means increasing the country's energy independence by diversifying the types and suppliers of fuel and energy resources, increasing the use of local fuels and renewable energy sources, reducing dependence on hydrocarbons by putting into operation the BelNPP,” stressed Viktor Karankevich.
The construction of the Belarusian NPP is a key project for the industry. When the station reaches full capacity, it will be possible to replace about 4.5 billion cubic meters. meters of gas per year, to provide about 40% of domestic electricity needs. Greenhouse gas emissions will be significantly reduced.
One of the key tasks for the five-year period, taking into account the launch of the nuclear power plant, is to increase power consumption both by the real sector of the economy and by the population. In his speech at the VI All-Belarusian People's Assembly, the head of state drew attention to the need to modernize the power grid infrastructure. It is planned to significantly increase the volume of reconstruction of power grids.
At the end of the meeting, Viktor Karankevich answered the questions of the CHPP employees. “On a weekly basis, I visit industry organizations to see on the spot how things are going, how key indicators are being met and what are the plans for further development. Feedback is important for me - it is an opportunity to hear what questions and suggestions you have, ”the minister summed up.
